21 July 2023 \u2013 Representatives from the Korea Shipowners\u2019 Association (KSA) along with POS SM and Sinokor Merchant Marine visited Jakarta to meet related industries in seafarer training and recruitment. Mr. Yang Chang Ho, Vice Chairman of KSA; Mr. Kwon Sae Hoon, Manager of KSA; Mr.Shin Jung Kun, General Manager of POS SM Co., Ltd; and Mr. Chung Jae Ho, team leader of Sinokor Merchant Marine Co., Ltd attended the scheduled visits.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

On the 20th<\/sup> of July, the Korean delegation met with Korean Crew Manning Companies based in Jakarta to discuss the seafarer market and recruitment process and experiences. These manning companies include JASINDO, KSM, AMAS, BISCO, INKOR, JSM, BSI, and MUG.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Moreover, KSA was also able to visit the Marine Merchant Polytechnic of Banten to meet academy personnel along with the Secretary of the Human Resources Development of the Ministry of Transportation and the Head of the Agency of Human Resources Development of Sea Transportation. During this visit, KSA was able to learn and discuss the current state of seafarer training in the academies available in Indonesia. Additionally, KSA was also able to know the interest of academies in foreign investment and recruitment of their students.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n

For the 21st<\/sup>, the KSA also toured the Maritime Higher Education Institute of Jakarta (STIP). In this academy, KSA was given insight into one of the top and most complete academies in Indonesia. During this visit, KSA was able to discuss deeper into the Indonesian environment and the potential of foreign investment and recruitment of students.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

KSA, POS SM, and Sinokor Merchant Marine hope to quickly find effective solutions in response to the decreasing supply of Korean seafarers for Korean vessels. One of these solutions could be educational investments and recruitment of graduates.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n
