DECOMMISSIONING & REUTILIZATION

Since its establishment in 2019, KIORCC has assisted in the implementation of the first offshore decommissioning project, which has been studied since 2014.

This project is supported by the establishing Implementing Agreement as one of the scopes of work for KIORCC’s foundation. This scope covers the assistance to oversee the decommissioning sector in Indonesia through research and the development of methodology, processes, technology, and alternative methods of re-utilization, as well as the development of a master plan for inactive oil and gas platforms.

The support is further evidenced in the signing of the MOU between the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea on Maritime Cooperation in the Field of Offshore Plant Service Industry, signed in Jakarta on 13 October 2021.

This cooperation is further reinforced with the signing of another Implementing Arrangement signed by the Deputy of Maritime Sovereignty and Energy of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Director General of Oil & Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Deputy Minister for Marine Policy Office of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea signed on 31 January 2022, renewed in March 2023.
