WELCOME SPEECH

Welcome to the Korea-Indonesia Offshore Research Cooperation Centre (KIORCC). Since its establishment in 2019, KIORCC has worked extensively in bridging cooperation and collaboration between the Indonesian and Korean governments, along with their respective domestic businesses to mutually benefit in the offshore, maritime, fisheries, and energy sectors.

Since conducting studies in 2014, KIORCC has specifically assisted in the implementation of the 1st pilot decommissioning project in Indonesia. This project was further supported by the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) developed between the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea on Maritime Cooperation in the Field of Offshore Plant Service Industry, signed on 13 October 2021 in Jakarta.

On top of the pilot decommissioning project, KIORCC is also helping various Korean companies partner with Indonesian companies in the field of offshore energy, maritime, and fisheries. Over the years, KIORCC has successfully supported Korean companies in joining bids for various tenders available in Indonesia.

Moreover, KIORCC contributes to the facilitation and implementation of studies in encouraging the development of offshore service industries. These studies include partnering with the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and Pertamina to conduct feasibility studies of Pertamina’s unused platforms and their potential reutilization.

KIORCC aims to give continuous support to the cooperation between Korean and Indonesian companies, as well as implement our studies to develop concrete collaboration projects between the two states.

We thank you for your continued support and encouragement, which has and will furthermore help us grow in achieving our objectives.

Cho Ilhyung
