AGREEMENTS
KIORCC was established through an Implementing Agreement signed between KMOF and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia (KKP) on the Establishment of a Korea-Indonesia Offshore Research Cooperation Center.
Since its establishment in 2019, KIORCC has assisted with the implementation of the first pilot decommissioning project, which has been studied since 2014. This project was supported through an Implementing Arrangement as one of the scopes of work for the foundation of KIORCC. One scope of work includes overseeing the assistance in the decommissioning sector in Indonesia through research and development of methodology, process, technology, alternative methods of re-utilization of platforms, and the development of a master plan for inactive oil and gas platforms.
This support is evidenced by the signing of an MOU between the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea on Maritime Cooperation in the Field of Offshore Plant Service Industry, signed in Jakarta on 13 October 2021.
The bilateral cooperation is further reinforced with the signing of an Implementing Arrangement signed by the Deputy of Maritime Sovereignty and Energy of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, the Director General of Oil & Gas of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Deputy Minister for Marine Policy Office of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea on 31 January 2022.
