25 November 2025 – The Korea–Indonesia Offshore Plant Cooperation Center (KIORCC) showcased its role as a key platform for supporting Korean companies’ overseas expansion during the 2025 Korea-Indonesia Offshore Plant Business Week held on November 25th in Busan, South Korea.

The event was hosted by the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in collaboration with the Korea Research Institute of Ships and Ocean Engineering (KRISO), aimed to share strategies for the sustainable growth of the offshore plant service industry between industry players.

As part of the Overseas Market Expansion Strategy session, KIORCC, jointly-operated by the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered two presentations designed to strengthen Korean companies’ entry into the Indonesian offshore and energy markets.

In the first presentation, a KIORCC researcher introduced Indonesia’s energy project landscape, highlighting prospective offshore LNG infrastructure projects including regasification terminal and storage. The session provided a key summary of the project as well as indicative technical and financial terms set by the project owner. Through this session, KIORCC highlighted potential areas for cooperation where Korean offshore plant service companies can leverage their expertise.

The second presentation focused on the practical aspects of market entry into Indonesia. Another KIORCC researcher provided detailed guidance on Indonesia’s business entity structures, local content requirements (Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri/TKDN), and the full range of administrative and regulatory documentation required for Korean companies to establish operations and participate in projects. This included foreign investment establishment procedures, licensing, compliance requirements, and key considerations for partnerships with local companies.

In addition to the presentations, KIORCC participated in networking and exchange sessions with companies to explore practical opportunities to facilitate expansion to Indonesia’s market.

Through its continued activities, KIORCC aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Korea and Indonesia in offshore plants, energy infrastructure, and marine services, while supporting Korean companies in securing new growth opportunities in Southeast Asia.
