26 May 2025 – The Korea-Indonesia Offshore Research Cooperation Center (KIORCC), Korea Maritime and Ocean University Consortium (KMOUC), Pields Engineering, KHAN, in collaboration with PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), and PHE ONWJ, is proud to announce the successful completion of the site visit to the PAPA Central Platform (PCP). This visit marks a significant milestone under the Joint Study Agreement (JSA) for the Decommissioning Feasibility Study of Oil and Gas Offshore Platforms by Re-utilization Method signed by the parties at the end of last year.
The visit was made possible with the strong support of Pertamina and its subsidiaries, allowed the Korean-Indonesian team to visually inspect the platform and conduct drone-based filming for engineering and analysis purposes. The field data and visual documentation collected will directly inform the ongoing technical evaluation of platform reutilization options, including potential applications for Rig to LNG regasification terminal and Rig-to-CCS injection site.
The visit was conducted smoothly and in full compliance with safety protocols. It reflected the commitment and eagerness of all parties involved, progressing through the milestone set in the JSA.
As this major step has now been completed, the Korea-Indonesia Offshore Research Cooperation Center (KIORCC) reaffirms its dedication to maintaining momentum. The insights gained during the visit will accelerate the engineering phases of the feasibility study, with further verification meeting expected in the coming months.
KIORCC, with its support of the offshore plant service industry between Korea, and Indonesia, will continue to facilitate B2B and G2G discussions and initiatives for the development of Indonesia’s decommissioning sector.
