16 October 2024 – KIORCC, on behalf of the Business Research Education Support Center (BRES Center) of Korea Maritime and Ocean University, visited the Maritime Higher Education Institute of Jakarta, or Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran (STIP) to meet Principal Capt. Tri Cahyadi and academic staff to discuss potential collaborations in the offshore plant service industry.
This visit discussed existing training programs in STIP related to LNG and liquid cargo handling, along with potential scopes of cooperation with Korean industry players to train and recruit highly qualified and competent Seafarers and crews in Indonesia. Indonesia, as one of the most highly demanded providers of manpower in Shipping (both domestically and internationally) holds high potential in providing trained and certified individuals to take part in key Shipping operations all over the world. In doing so, STIP, as a public maritime academy, is open to mutually beneficial collaborations with governments and companies.
KIORCC, in support of the Indonesian government’s interests in government-to-government collaborations in offshore capacity building, and also Korean shipping companies’ interests to meet manpower demands through international recruitment, will continue to aid in the development of meaningful and valuable collaborations on both business and government levels.
