19 February 2024 – The Chairman of the Korea Maritime and Ocean University Consortium (KMOUC), Prof. Dr. Oh Jinseok placed a courtesy call with the Deputy Coordinating Minister for Maritime Navigation and Safety of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment (CMMAI).

This visit is the first visit of KMOUC to Indonesia following the Indonesian Delegation’s visit to Busan during the Offshore Plant Service Industry Business Week in December 2023.

Continuing previous discussions on the offshore platform decommissioning reutilization methods, and the development of capable offshore manpower and experts in Indonesia, KMOUC and CMMAI took this opportunity to discuss Korea-Indonesia collaborations further in the fields.

KMOUC, through KIORCC, hopes to obtain various investments from the Korean government to support platform reutilization in Indonesia as previously conducted for the Pilot Project on Rigs to Reefs. Future activities of interest include Rig to LNG Regasification, Rig to CCS, and Rig to Fish Farm studies and implementation.

Furthermore, in response to the global demand for qualified offshore seafarers, and the plans to develop domestic policies in the offshore industry, KMOUC is seeking further budgetary support from the Korean government to support related capacity-building initiatives.
