31 July 2026 – As part of the implementation of the Indonesian Eco-Friendly Offshore Plant Service Industry Capacity Building Project, an Official Development Assistance (ODA) initiative, the project’s implementing partners—comprising Korea’s Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), supported by Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU), along with partner companies and training institutes—have launched their first Mid- and Long-term Training Programs.
The Mid-term Training Program invites Indonesian professionals to take part in a structured curriculum designed to strengthen practical job competencies. Through the program, participants sharpen their professional skills and gain opportunities to obtain internationally recognized certifications that support career development and workplace effectiveness. In 2026, the program focuses on topics and expertise related to LNG and offshore facilities. This year’s one-month intensive training brings together Indonesian participants from government institutions and state-owned enterprises working in the maritime, LNG, and gas sectors.
The Long-term Training Program, meanwhile, is designed for recent graduates and aspiring professionals in the shipbuilding and oil and gas industries, offering the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Korea’s maritime and offshore plant service sectors. In addition to training in offshore and LNG operations, participants will build practical work experience through internships at offshore, shipbuilding, and technology companies based in the Busan area. Partners in the ODA Project include Sebo Technology, SKY Offshore, Newgen I&S, and KOSTEC Shipbuilding & Ocean Engineering.
Following their arrival in Busan, South Korea, on 31 July 2026, participants were welcomed by the program committee at a ceremony held on the KMOU campus. The event brought together several key figures, including Ms. Ahn Sook-hyun of MOF; Mr. Lee Sang-deuk, Director General of the KMOU Education Technology Research Support Center; Mr. Kim Sung-woo, President Director of Sebo Technology; and, representing the Indonesian delegation, Mr. Purnomosidi, Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic of Energy & Minerals AKAMIGAS.
The opening ceremony underlined the shared commitment of Indonesia and Korea to the bilateral development of the offshore plant service industry. This commitment is reflected not only in the ODA Project but also in the establishment of the Korea-Indonesia Offshore Plant Service Industry Training Center (KIOS), a joint initiative between KMOU and the Jakarta Maritime College (STIP Jakarta), launching in 2026.
KIORCC remains committed to supporting both government-to-government and business-to-business projects that further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the offshore industry between Indonesia and Korea. This year also marks the launch of the Master’s and Doctoral Degree Scholarship Program under the ODA Project, which is set to begin in September with the start of the new academic year.
