28-29 November 2024 – The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Republic of Korea (KMOF), has hosted a government-to-government (G2G) forum and business-to-business (B2B) sessions for the Korean-Indonesian offshore plant service industry. This event marks the second of its kind, following the completion of the first in December of 2023.
The Indonesian delegation, chaired by a representative of the Directorate of Marine Affairs of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Republic of Indonesia (MMAF), was joined by officials from the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas), PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Pertamina Hulu Energi ONWJ, and PT APCA Tirta Engineering.
Commencing with the G2G forum, several key topics were presented by the Indonesian delegation relating to KIORCC-supported activities between KMOF and MMAF, current developments in the industry, and potential projects. The MMAF specifically provided results of the Rig-to-Reef (R2R) Pilot Project’s second monitoring activities, proving a stable and healthy growth of the artificial reef. Additionally, the MMAF announced the development of an R2R policy in hopes of providing a framework for future R2R project implementation by oil and gas companies.
In addition to the previous government update, business presentations were provided for the forum by the remaining delegation. Topics shared covered progress updates for the rig re-utilization feasibility study initiatives (for Rig-to-LNG and Rig-to-CCS) and also Indonesia’s decommissioning landscape and project opportunities. During the seminar session, speakers provided coverage on EPCC Opportunities in Gas Power Plant, Gas Infrastructure, and Other Offshore Energy projects; decommissioning in Indonesia; and potential collaborations in Vietnam by PetroVietnam Maintenance and Repair.
KIORCC, with its support of the offshore plant service industry between Korea, Indonesia, and the ASEAN region, will continue to facilitate B2B and G2G discussions and initiatives for the development of the sector.
