June 2023 – KMOUC has officially begun a beginner Korean language course for selected participants from various institutions affiliated with KMOUC’s activities. Participating institutions include the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management and the Marine and Fisheries Research and Human Resources Agency); the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investments; the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources; SKK Migas; PLN; PLN EPI; and PGN.

The course is conducted online with occasional offline classes. KMOUC hopes that with these courses, Indonesian counterparts are exposed to more Korean culture and can eventually communicate better with potential Korean partners or colleagues for future activities and business.
The first offline class was held on 22 June 2023 in the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries building in central Jakarta. This offline class was attended by twenty-two participants from the participating institutions.
KIORCC’s Co-Director, Mr. Cho Il Hyung, opened this first class and shared that this program commemorates 50 (fifty) years of Korean-Indonesian relations. Furthermore, Mr. Cho is excited to learn more about the progress of the students over the months as they learn a new skill.

The overall course was well received. The instructor, Ms. Ko, a Korean native living in Indonesia, enjoyed the enthusiasm and dedication of the attending students. Hopefully, through the completion of this beginner course, students can build the initiative to continue to learn the language to higher proficiency.
