24-25 July 2024 – The annual Korea-ASEAN Maritime Week (KAMW) has been successfully concluded for 2024. This year’s event was hosted and supported by the Korean Government, KOTRA, KIORCC, Gyeongnam Marine Equipment Association, the Korea Maritime and Ocean University, and KORINDO, among others.

KAMW first facilitated discussions on the shipbuilding business and other technology opportunities. This discussion, though highlighting the current regulatory landscape of shipbuilding in Indonesia as being insufficient, showcased the promising collaboration potential between the Indonesian and Korean industries. These collaborations include vessel conversion projects for the energy sector, LNG Carrier development, and green ships.

Besides the aforementioned discussions, KAMW provided B2B matching and one-on-one discussions between industry players. This session allows companies in similar fields to discuss their goods and services, along with developing potential collaboration plans for mutually beneficial projects. Participating companies include PetroVietnam Gas, PetroVietnam Maintenance and Repair, Pertamina Gas Negara, SJ Metal, GasEntec, Petrogas East Java, BTE, PT. PAL Indonesia, Axxico, PT. Radiant Utama, and Puspetindo, among many others.

During this event, Prof. Dr. Oh Jin Seok, the Director General of the Business Research and Education Support (BRES) Center at Korea Maritime and Ocean University (KMOU), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Petrovietnam Maintenance and Repair Corporation (PVMR). Representing PVMR was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Sy, the General Director. This MoU aims to bolster collaboration  in oil and gas projects, marking a strategic partnership in the energy sector.

Through events such as KAMW, KIORCC aims to continue to open potential collaborations between Indonesian and Korean offshore industry players to further develop activities in the field.
