5 July 2023 – KIORCC was warmly welcomed to the Department of Marine Engineering of Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology/Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) to discuss varying topics in the offshore field. During this trip, the KIORCC team also toured the department facilities, along with the BRIN Hydrodynamics Lab that is located on campus.
Prof. Dr. Ketut Buda Artana and his team accompanied KIORCC with the discussions and tours. Among the discussion topics were manpower and capacity building for the shipbuilding industry; LNG technology and collaboration; and Rig-to-LNG potential and process in Indonesia.
KIORCC was also introduced to PT Sains Tekno, a company running under ITS, specializing in engineering consultation activities for the offshore sector, training and certification, research commercialization, and student exchange programs. For the future, ITS hopes to expand their activities in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC). Additionally, the ITS Marine Research Group was also introduced. This group conducts risk assessments of maritime facilities and LNG studies, along with providing ship designs.
In ITS, KIORCC was also given the opportunity to BRIN’s Hydrodynamics Laboratory of Indonesia, where shipbuilding designs are created and tested. Among its impressive facilities was also the largest Ocean Basin in Southeast Asia.
KIORCC looks forward to collaborate further with ITS, and to bridge projects between ITS and Korean companies.
